Successfully led the fight to fulfill the 20-year-old promise to build a City Center by legally ending the agreement to build 968 walk-up apartments and a strip shopping center

 

Proudly led the fight to relieve overcrowding in Margate's schools resulting in:​

         •   Building of Liberty Elementary School, ending the busing of 800 students out

             of Margate ​

         •   Renovation of Margate Elementary Cafeteria

         •   Margate Elementary and Margate Middle School classroom additions

​Established the City of Margate student recognition award program​

​​

​​Initiated the first Little Free Library Program at Firefighters' Park 

​

Approved the hiring of​ additional Firefighters to ensure additional manpower and safety when responding to a Fire

​​

​Successfully Funded and Built

         •   New State of the Art Fire Station 58  •  Covered Sports Field  •  Margate Sports                     Complex  •  Calypso Cove Water Park Renovations  •  Enhanced Park facilities

             using resident approved $10 million parks bond  •  Veterans' Memorial Park                       •   Firefighters’ Park  •  Margate Dog Park 

 

Established the Property Improvement Program and additional Grants to hardened homes against hurricanes, widen driveways, support first time homebuyers and assist low income residents to upgrade their homes

 

Appropriated grant funding to revitalize our business district, encouraging redevelopment and reinvestment

 

Championed the additional Senior Tax Exemption for seniors earning less than $25,000 per year who are 25 year City residents

Exempted permanently disabled veterans from paying CIty ad valorem property taxes

 

Established Broward County's first Inner-City Transit Bus System

Celebrated Margate being recognized as the 7th Safest City in Florida with a population over 50,000  

​

Partnered with FPL to convert to LED street lighting at no cost to the City

 

Provided immediate response to COVID-19:​

  • Distributed $200,000 in emergency relief funds to small businesses, including veteran  and minority-owned

  • Personally handed out 14,000 of the 25,000 face masks & hand sanitizers to our 55+ seniors

  • Organized mask giveaways, meal deliveries and food drives

  • Provided PPEs to protect our essential workers

  • Secured grant funded antibody testing for all employees

  • Lobbied Broward Schools to provide Margate students and their families with Grab and Go take home meals.
